Main Objective

Lead bitFlyer Europe S.A. Finance function by building trust, meeting all deadlines, developing and enhancing processes to support and control growing business activity. The role reports to the CFO/Co-Head of Bitflyer Europe.

Specific Tasks

  • Lead the bitFlyer Europe S.A. Finance team
  • Financial accounting, including revenue accounting, accounts payable, month- and year-end closings,    financial controls, and updating procedures
  • Cooperate with Operations team to ensure controlled and effective client asset safeguarding and            processing
  • Prepare, analyze, and control internal and external financial statements and results
  • Regulatory reporting, including to CSSF
  • Reporting to bitFlyer Group Head Office
  • Manage provision of accounting and finance processes for bitFlyer US
  • Evaluate and implement systems to drive efficiency and automation in the company’s financial                operations
  • Work closely with auditors to complete audits
  • Reporting to Management and Boards of Directors
  • Financial Planning & Analysis, including budgeting and forecasting and explanations for variances to budget
  •  Ensure compliance with regulations and best practices
  • Treasury Management
  • Bank account and cash management
  • Corporate tax (direct and indirect)
  • Responsible for accounting for several legal entities: bitFlyer Europe and bitFlyer USA currently.
  • Cooperate with Risk Management for control and reporting of risks
  • Cooperate with bitFlyer overseas offices in all finance related matters at global scale, with the purpose of ensuring transparency and alignment in all related aspects
  • Participate in internal and global projects, to ensure good coordination of processes and work across whole bitFlyer group.

Desired Skills


  • Qualified Accountant. e.g. ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of proven experience and increasing responsibility in Accounting/Finance, preferably in regulated Financial Services companies (e.g. payment institutions, banks)
  • Excellent leadership skills: builds effective teams by creating trust
  • Good understanding of multicultural working environments
  • Experience of process management and improvement
  • Experience of new accounting and controls systems implementations
  • Management of general ledger and closing process
  • Good knowledge of Luxembourg GAAP and IFRS (US GAAP also very useful), and accounting policies
  • Past exposure, experience, or interest in Crypto or Blockchain desirable
  • English proficiency required
  • French/German proficiency desirable
  • Other European languages and Japanese desirable
